So yeah. It's a kid's movie. Not a very high expectation to be had from it. My opinion on it? It sucks, obviously, but it's no where near as bad as Mega Piranha, at least. The plot isn't as retarded, albeit very cheesy. Visually, not the best CG animation, but after having seen Mega Piranha, it's better, although that doesn't really say much. Voice acting is... ehhh... again, kid's movie, so it's cheesy, once again. Not to mention that one guy did the voice of 9 characters in this movie. Lip synching is not perfect either, but it turns out this movie was originally made in Argentina, so that's understandable. I'm not one to be bothered so much by bad lip synching, thankfully, although I'll notice them. That about covers the obvious bad things about the movie.
Good things? ... Maybe this scene where this kid dolphin keeps farting?
Yeah... About the only short clip I can find for this movie on YouTube, in fact. But honestly? You're not missing much. Read below for a nutshell summary.
Not that anyone should care, but seriously. The story is about a dolphin named Daniel, who leaves the safety of his group of dolphins to follow his dream of finding the best wave to ride, like a surfer. He makes friends with Carl, the cuddlefish, I believe, and goes on an adventure looking for said wave. He encounters some baddies like a badly animated barracuda with a lengthy chase scene complete with bad motion choreography, a potential tentacle rapist octopus who collects "slaves", and a shark. Throughout it all, Daniel is determined to fulfill his dreams, and never gives up. He makes some friends on the way, and in the end, he finds his dream wave to ride, and they lived happily ever after. An obviously given kid's movie ending.
So given the cheesy plot and execution of all the characters and the dialogues, it isn't something that an adult would enjoy. It is a movie that is probably aimed more towards pre-teens. This movie is rated PG for some mild scary action and brief rude humor, apparently. I mean, the barracuda can be scary to little kids, but I thought that the potential rapist octopus was probably scarier. As for the rude humor? That video above probably explains it.
The moral of the story is to simply follow your dreams, and never give up, even when a rapist tries to keep you as his slave and shoots ink all over the place. Something along those lines. And to find a better movie to watch for a movie night, I guess. =/
Spot on, my good sir.
